In the past if you experienced a chipped or broken tooth it was customary that your dentist would recommend a crown—a custom-fitted cap to cover it and restore the tooth’s shape, strength and appearance. The procedure that followed typically meant creating a model of the tooth and surrounding area made using a mold, sending the impression to a dental laboratory to make the crown, having a temporary restoration put in place, waiting about a week or so for the dentist’s office to get the crown back from the lab, and then you would return for a second visit where the temporary is removed and the new crown is cemented into place. Fun process.
But, thank goodness times change. Commonly referred to as a “same-day crown,” or a “crown while you wait,” our practice uses state-of-the-art technology, ensuring you the very finest dental care and durable results. These new technologies allow us to detect dental problems in early stages, restore teeth and function with precision, and achieve stunning outcomes. Our premium dental software system keeps us efficient so that your appointments are kept on time. When you visit our office you can be confident that you are receiving the finest and most advanced care possible.
Dr. Wyson has completed extensive specialized training in complex dentistry, and has specifically performed many same-day crown procedures, helping many patients enjoy the benefits of this convenient approach to tooth repair. If the idea of multiple visits to the dentist to get your crown doesn’t sound appealing, fortunately our state-of-the-art imaging and on-site technology allow us to create your custom crown in a single office visit. Dr. Wyson takes digital pictures of the teeth to fabricate a crown on the computer, and these are wirelessly sent to an in-office mill and the crown is cut, fired and cemented. All this is usually within a 2 hour appointment. Gone are the days of getting temporary crowns followed by additional office visits for permanent crowns.
The convenience of a single visit for lasting results is amazing in our busy world.
